Clear answers to common questions about our services, appointments, insurance, and care approach.
General
What is integrative wellness?
Integrative wellness combines conventional medicine with evidence-based complementary therapies to treat the whole person, mind, body, and spirit. Rather than masking symptoms, we investigate root causes and build personalized care plans that may include psychiatric support, hormone balancing, nutritional guidance, physical therapies, and advanced recovery modalities.
How do I book an appointment?
The easiest way is to book online through our scheduling portal at wcw.janeapp.com. You can also call us at (919) 463-0021 or email info@wellcenteredwellness.com. New patients can request a 15 minute consultation to find out which services are the best fit.
Do you accept walk-ins?
We primarily operate by appointment to ensure each patient receives the dedicated time and attention they deserve. Walk-ins may be accommodated depending on availability, but we strongly encourage scheduling in advance to guarantee your preferred time slot. Call us at (919) 463-0021 and we'll do our best to fit you in.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring a valid photo ID, your insurance card (if applicable), a list of current medications and supplements including dosages, any recent lab results or medical records, and a completed new patient intake form if you received one ahead of time. Arriving 10–15 minutes early helps us get started on time.
Insurance & Payment
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We accept many major insurance plans including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and others. Coverage varies by service and plan. Please call our office or visit our Insurance page to verify your specific benefits before your appointment.
What if I don't have insurance?
We welcome self-pay patients and offer competitive transparent pricing for all of our services. Many patients find that our self-pay rates are very reasonable, especially for advanced therapies not typically covered by insurance. Contact us for a personalized quote or ask about our wellness packages, which offer bundled savings.
Do you accept HSA / FSA cards?
Yes, we accept Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards for eligible medical services. Many of our services qualify as HSA/FSA eligible expenses. Please check with your HSA/FSA administrator for specific eligibility questions regarding your plan.
How much do services cost?
Costs vary depending on the service, session length, and whether insurance covers it. New patient consultations, individual therapy sessions, medication management visits, and advanced therapies each have different pricing. We believe in transparency, our team is happy to provide a cost estimate during your 15 minute consult or when you call. Check out our Wellness Packages for bundled savings.
Services
What conditions do you treat?
We treat a wide range of conditions including depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, hormone imbalances (menopause, andropause, thyroid), obesity and metabolic dysfunction, chronic pain, sports injuries, traumatic brain injury, sleep disorders, fatigue, and more. Our integrative approach means we look beyond the diagnosis to address underlying contributors to poor health.
Can I combine multiple services?
Absolutely, in fact, combining services often yields the best outcomes. For example, pairing hormone therapy with nutrition coaching and red light therapy can dramatically improve energy and body composition. Our practitioners coordinate care across disciplines so your plan is cohesive, not fragmented. Ask about our Wellness Packages for curated multi-service bundles.
How long does a typical appointment take?
New patient appointments are typically 60–90 minutes so we have ample time to review your history and develop a thorough care plan. Follow-up visits range from 20–60 minutes depending on the service. Advanced therapy sessions such as hyperbaric oxygen or red light therapy have their own specific session durations, which we'll walk you through when you schedule.
Do I need a referral?
In most cases, no referral is needed. You can book directly with us. However, some insurance plans do require a referral for specialist visits, check with your insurance provider. For advanced therapies like HBOT, we may request recent medical records to ensure safe and appropriate care.
Mental Health
What is psychiatric medication management?
Psychiatric medication management is a specialized service where a licensed psychiatric provider evaluates your mental health, diagnoses any conditions, and prescribes and monitors psychiatric medications as needed. Visits typically include a thorough review of your symptoms, medication history, side effects, and response to treatment. It is distinct from therapy, medication management focuses on the biological aspect of mental health care.
How long does it take to see results from psychiatric medication?
Most psychiatric medications, particularly antidepressants, take 4–8 weeks to reach their full therapeutic effect. Some medications, such as those for anxiety or sleep, may provide more immediate relief. Your provider will set realistic expectations during your first visit and schedule follow-up check-ins to monitor your progress and adjust dosing if needed.
Is therapy available at Well Centered Wellness?
We offer integrative mental health support through our psychiatric care and neurofeedback programs. For traditional talk therapy (psychotherapy or counseling), we work closely with licensed therapists in our network and can provide referrals. A combined approach of medication management and therapy is often the most effective path for conditions like depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
Hormone Therapy
How do I know if I need hormone therapy?
Common signs of hormone imbalance include chronic fatigue, unexplained weight gain, low libido, mood changes, brain fog, poor sleep, hot flashes, and night sweats. The only definitive way to know is through a comprehensive hormone panel (blood or saliva testing). Our providers review your lab results alongside your symptoms to determine whether hormone optimization is appropriate for you.
What are the side effects of hormone replacement therapy (HRT)?
When properly dosed and monitored, HRT is well-tolerated by most patients. Some individuals may experience mild, temporary side effects as the body adjusts, such as breast tenderness, bloating, spotting, or mood changes. Serious risks (blood clots, cardiovascular events) are associated with synthetic hormones; bioidentical hormones, which we use, carry a more favorable safety profile. Your provider will discuss your individual risk factors thoroughly.
How long before I see results from HRT?
Many patients notice improvements in energy, sleep, and mood within 2–4 weeks of starting hormone therapy. More significant changes in body composition, libido, and cognitive clarity typically emerge over 2–3 months as hormone levels stabilize. We recheck labs at 6–8 weeks and adjust as needed to dial in optimal levels.
Advanced Therapies
Is hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) safe?
HBOT has an excellent safety record when administered in a properly equipped facility by trained staff. Side effects are uncommon and typically mild, such as ear pressure (similar to flying) or temporary lightheadedness. HBOT is FDA-cleared for 14 conditions and used off-label for many others. Our team performs a health screening before initiating treatment to ensure you are a good candidate.
How many red light therapy sessions do I need?
This depends on your goal. For acute recovery or skin concerns, patients often see noticeable results within 6–10 sessions. For chronic conditions, longevity goals, or ongoing wellness maintenance, a regular regimen of 2–3 sessions per week over several months produces the best outcomes. Our practitioners will recommend a protocol tailored to your specific needs at your initial consultation.
Does StemWave therapy hurt?
StemWave (acoustic wave therapy) is generally well-tolerated. Most patients describe the sensation as a mild tapping or pressure over the treated area. Some discomfort is normal if the area is already inflamed or tender, but the intensity can always be adjusted based on your comfort level. Sessions are brief, typically 5–15 minutes per treatment zone, and most patients resume normal activities immediately afterward.
